Building A Healthier Community
Dr. Marla Koroly lives in Katonah and is the Associate Physician Executive at Northwell Health and former Chief Medical Officer of Northern Westchester Hospital.
“As a longtime Katonah resident, internist, and Northwell executive, I wear many hats - but they all lead to one purpose: ensuring that world-class healthcare is available right here, in the community I call home.
Northwell Health’s reach across Westchester has grown immensely in recent years… today, we have more than 70 ambulatory practices across the county, including specialties in everything from pediatrics and primary care to oncology, orthopedics, and cardiology. We’re not just building practices, we’re creating a seamlessly connected network of care, where patients can move fluidly from diagnosis to treatment without disruption or delay, always accessing the top level of doctors in the country.
I started practicing internal medicine because I wanted to build lasting relationships with my patients. That same philosophy drives our work at Northwell. We’ve brought together 280 top physicians in 58 specialties–always focused on prevention, early screening, and personalized, integrated care.
Our strength lies in our ability to think locally while drawing from the extraordinary resources of the state’s largest healthcare system. Northern Westchester Hospital and Phelps Hospital serve as our nexus here in Westchester, supported by cutting-edge technology and physicians trained at the nation’s best programs. In oncology, we’re partnering with leaders in research to bring advanced cancer care, including clinical trials, close to home. In orthopedics, we’re building out full-spectrum institutes with surgeons specializing in everything from spine to ankle.
We're building a comprehensive neurology program and expanding on our well-established stroke center with a specialization in epilepsy and seizure disorders. We like to focus on treating the whole patient–addressing both physical and mental well-being to support long-term health. That’s why we’re developing innovative programs like lifestyle medicine, which focuses on prevention, wellness, and chronic care management. We’re integrating behavioral health directly into our primary care offices, making it easier for patients to access behavioral health support in a familiar setting. To further streamline the experience, we’re simplifying access to care with centralized tools–like one phone number where patients can reach all of their doctors and schedule virtual or in-person appointments (914-418-CARE).
While quality of care is our top priority, we also take pride in the environment we provide, which is why many of our practices have been newly built or recently renovated. It’s important to us that people feel comfortable and cared for the moment they walk through Northwell’s doors.
What excites me most? The way we’re reimagining health care around real life. Co-located practices allow new moms to meet pediatricians in the same building as their OB/GYN. Patients with elevated lung cancer risk aren’t just sent for scans–we bring together specialists to review every image and guide the next step. It’s a smarter, more human way to deliver care.
As both a physician and a neighbor, I can say with absolute confidence: If I or my family needed care, I’d choose our doctors every time. They’re among the best in the country… and they’re right here in Westchester.
