Artists Reception: Echoes and Iterations

Heather Gaudio Fine Art is pleased to present Echoes and Iterations, a group exhibition featuring works by Nicky Broekhuysen, Peter Monaghan, Norman Mooney and Robert Sagerman.  The exhibition dates are August 16 – September 27 and the public is invited to attend an artist reception on Friday, September 12, 5:30-7:30pm.

The works on view are process-driven paintings and sculpture, their visual outcomes defined by the way in which the artists are working with their materials.  While expressing themselves mostly through abstraction, the artists draw inspiration from the natural, scientific, mathematical and mystical worlds.  Together, their works create discernible and conceptual relationships, at times echoing each other in form, color and imagery, making for a captivating and engaging experience for the viewer.

Alicja Kwade | ParaPosition Sculpture

Alicja Kwade | ParaPosition Sculpture

Experience the opening of ParaPosition, a remarkable sculpture by Alicja Kwade, made of slim interlocking steel frames supporting four boulders and a blue chair made of bronze, in celebration of Grace Farms’ 10 Year.

At 3 pm, Kwade will join Grace Farms’ Chief Strategic Officer and Founding Creative Director, Chelsea Thatcher, for a conversation about her inspiration and the sculpture’s dialogue with our site and mission.

About ParaPosition:

ParaPosition’s array of steel and stone draws viewers into the frame of this massive, yet fragile, universe. The substantial stones, with their immense weight, appear to defy gravity in an almost weightless balancing act. The chair beckons viewers to reflect on our relationship with the world and contemplate the fundamental nature of our existence.

“Alicja Kwade is approaching themes about society and human flourishing in the same spirit as we are at Grace Farms Foundation — imploring us to expand our perspective by asking questions. At Grace Farms, we seek new outcomes on pressing humanitarian issues by breaking down silos and facilitating dialogue across sectors.”

– Sharon Prince, Grace Farms CEO and Founder

Sweet Surrender: Tricia Caracappa Opening Reception

Sweet Surrender: Tricia Caracappa Opening Reception

The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents "Sweet Surrender," a solo exhibition featuring new abstract works by Katonah-based artist Tricia Caracappa, running from September 13 to October 11, 2025. The exhibition investigates the transformative power of creative trust, showcasing dynamic abstract landscapes that emerge when artistic control gives way to intuitive expression. "Sweet Surrender" chronicles Caracappa's artistic evolution as she abandons rigid creative constraints to embrace a more fluid, meditative practice, working barefoot in her studio with music as her guide and allowing intuition and energy to direct her process.

The works showcase Caracappa's unique blend of design sensibility and abstract expression. The exhibition features custom copper and wood lighting elements designed by the artist, complementing her paintings created with acrylics, inks, oil sticks, and charcoal that reveal glimpses of beautifully dyed canvas beneath textured layers. The exhibition presents a spectrum of emotional and visual experiences, from light and ethereal compositions to rich, moody landscapes, each reflecting Caracappa's philosophy of "following the energy of what lights you up." Through this creative surrender, the artist discovered not chaos, but a textured peacefulness filled with sustained delight, inviting viewers to consider their relationship with letting go and trusting the creative process.

View and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. From the Collections dropdown menu please select “Sweet Surrender.”

The community is invited to join us for an opening reception on Saturday, September 13, from 4 to 6pm. Please RSVP to the opening reception here. All are welcome.

THE SECOND CITY – 65TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW

THE SECOND CITY – 65TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Rooted in the innovative improvisational games of Viola Spolin, The Second City made its debut on a snowy night in December 1959, marking the beginning of a comedy revolution. What started as a small cabaret theater in Chicago has evolved into the most influential and prolific comedy empire in the world, establishing a unique approach to creating art that has nurtured generation after generation of comedic superstars.

The Second City was co-founded by Paul Sills, the son of Viola Spolin, alongside Howard Alk and Bernie Sahlins. The theater quickly gained a reputation for its experimental and unconventional approach to both theater and comedy. Almost immediately, it became a launching pad for a host of notable comedians and actors, including Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Fred Willard, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, and John Belushi. Their talents propelled The Second City into the international spotlight, showcasing the theater’s unique brand of humor and improvisation.

In 1976, The Second City expanded its influence with the launch of “SCTV,” a sketch comedy series that has since been recognized as one of the greatest of all time. This two-time Emmy-winning show featured an all-star cast, including Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty, and Rick Moranis, further solidifying The Second City’s legacy in the world of comedy.

Today, The Second City operates as a world-class entertainment company with locations in Chicago, Toronto, and Hollywood, entertaining over one million audience members each year. The theater continues to produce top-tier talent, with alumni such as Steve Carell, Keegan-Michael Key, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Chris Farley, and Mike Myers leaving their mark across film, television, and beyond.

In addition to its performances, The Second City Touring Companies deliver electrifying revues and original productions throughout North America and internationally. The theater’s creative collaborations have led to thrilling and critically acclaimed work with prestigious organizations, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Cruise Line, the New York Comedy Festival, and the Chicago Bulls.

The Second City Training Centers in Chicago, Toronto, Hollywood, and online provide comedy education to thousands of students each year. The opening of the Harold Ramis Film School in 2016 marked a significant milestone, as it became the first film school dedicated to comedy. Additionally, Second City Works is a leader in applying improvisational methodologies to businesses and organizations across various sectors.

As we continue to celebrate this legacy, we invite you to enjoy the show—after all, it has been nearly 60 years in the making.

Author Talk: Clare Leslie Hall, "Broken Country"

Event Details

Clare Leslie Hall talks about her New York Times bestselling novel, Broken Country with fellow author Martha Hall Kelly. A love story with the pulse of a thriller, Broken Country, is a heart-pounding novel about impossible choices and devastating consequences.

You’re invited to a pre-event reception with Clare and Martha at 5:45pm in the Lightburn Gallery.

About Clare Leslie Hall: After many years living and working in London as a journalist and writing Pictures of Him and Days You Were Mine, Clare, her husband and three children moved to an old farmhouse in Dorset. The house, the ancient fields surrounding it and the farmers who have a deep connection to the land inspired the setting for Broken Country. Her favorite novels - The Great Gatsby, The Secret History, Moon Tiger and The Go-Between - set a blueprint for the kind of books Clare loves to read and now write. Her three novels all combine passionate love stories with an element of mystery and suspense.

About Martha Hall Kelly: Martha is the New York Times bestselling author of Lilac Girls, Lost Roses, Sunflower Sisters, Golden Doves, and The Martha’s Vineyard Beach and Book Club. Martha received journalism degrees from both Syracuse and Northwestern Universities and worked as an advertising copywriter for many years before becoming a novelist. With more than two million copies of her books sold and translated in fifty countries, Martha lives in Litchfield, Connecticut, and Hobe Sound, Florida.

Elm Street Books will be selling books onsite. Clare will sign and personalize books after the discussion.

Refusing to be defined by limitation, he went on to make history on September 30, 2009, becoming the first paraplegic to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro—nearly entirely unassisted. This inspiring documentary captures not just the physical feat of summiting the 19,340-foot peak, but the heart, determination, and perspective that fuel Waddell’s mission to “see the world positively” through his One Revolution Foundation. FALL Run The Farm

The 5 mile race course is a trail run and passes through farm roads, forests, meadows, along steep hills, and over stone walls. There are some small seasonal streams and one wooden bridge. There are no large stream crossings. The two largest hills are at the one mile (long, not so steep) and the three mile (short and steep!) marks. Depending on the weather for prior days and weeks and the season of the year, some of the course may be wet and muddy but most of the course is well drained.

The race has filled up in the past about a week before the race date. We anticipate demand being high this year so sign up ASAP.

Blueprints & Denim Dreams - A Night of Fundraising 2025

Join us for an unforgettable evening where hope takes center stage as we raise funds to make homeownership dreams come true.

The housing crisis is no longer a distant issue — it’s here, in our neighborhoods, impacting families every day. Too many are drowning in debt, struggling to afford basic housing, or living in homes that are no longer safe.

But thanks to the generosity of people like you, we’re changing that.

At Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, we do more than build homes — we help create pathways to stability, dignity, and a brighter future. Whether it's financial literacy that empowers first-time buyers, affordable homes that build equity, or critical repairs that allow older adults to age safely in place, your support turns homeownership dreams into reality.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 23, 2025, and join us at the elegant Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Doors open at 6:00 PM.

We’ll be joined by award-winning host and auctioneer Lucas Hunt, known for his dynamic energy and appearance as the auctioneer on CBS’s Bull.

This is our signature fall gala — and it’s more than a celebration. It’s a call to action. Building and repairing homes takes real resources, and we need your help to make it happen. Throughout the evening, you’ll have the chance to raise your paddle and fund the materials, skilled labor, and services that turn blueprints into real homes.

Come dressed in your denim best and enjoy a seated dinner, craft cocktails, and a lively lineup of live and silent auctions — all while standing in support of the families, seniors, and veterans we serve. Together, we can build a future rooted in strength, stability, and self-reliance.

As an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, we are 100% locally funded — every dollar raised stays right here in our community.

So bring your heart, your generosity, and your denim best!

Reserve your tickets, become a sponsor, or donate auction items today — and be a part of something truly life-changing.

For Live & Silent Auction Donations, please email Cindy@HousatonicHabitat.org.

Almost Famous Opening Night

Almost Famous Opening Night

Almost Famous is the exhilarating Broadway musical based on the beloved Cameron Crowe film. Set in 1973, it follows a teenage journalist who lands the assignment of a lifetime: touring with an up-and-coming rock band for Rolling Stone magazine. As he’s swept up in the chaos, romance, and rebellion of the music world, he discovers the true meaning of family, truth, and finding your voice. Bursting with heart, humor, and unforgettable music, Almost Famous is a must-see celebration of youth, passion, and the power of rock & roll. This will be the first production of the musical since its 2022 Broadway debut—and will be a thrilling reimagining of the production, featuring a revised book and score by the original Broadway team: Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award–winning composer Tom Kittand Academy Award–winning writer and filmmaker Cameron Crowe. In a unique collaboration, both Kitt and Crowe will be working directly with A.C.T. of CT Artistic Director, Daniel C. Levine who will direct the production. Bryan Perri, the original Broadway music supervisor of Almost Famous, will return to music supervise the Ridgefield production.  This new production will serve as an important step toward creating the final, licensable version of Almost Famous. As Penny Lane says, “…the spirits are still here… In the walls and in the rafters…the spirits are still here… the music tells you all you need to know. The spirits are the ones who make it so...” This is Almost Famous as you’ve never seen it before—intimate, poetic, and surging with the raw, electric energy of a backstage pass to rock history.

Rated PG-13: While this musical is appropriate for most teen and adult audiences, it does include occasional strong language and some mature themes related to sexuality. Parental discretion is advised.

Performances: Wednesday and Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2 & 8pm, Sundays at 2pm.

Matisse at War: Art and Resistance in Nazi-Occupied France with Christopher C. Gorham

Matisse at War: Art and Resistance in Nazi-Occupied France with Christopher C. Gorham

Author Christopher C. Gorham discusses his latest book and takes your questions.

In May 1940, as Parisians fled the advancing German Army, Henri Matisse was returning to the French capital. Sick, elderly and stunned by the success of the blitzkrieg, the world-famous artist was compelled to safeguard forty years of artwork. From Paris he returned to his adopted home, the ancient port of Nice on the Mediterranean, where he passed the terrible years of war and occupation. To leave France, he felt, would be a betrayal.

Hitler, seeking cultural as well as territorial conquest, had decreed avant-gardism to be “an enemy of the state.” The failed watercolorist-turned-dictator exalted traditionalism over contemporary art, taught Germans to jeer at surrealist, expressionist, and Dadaist works, and to equate artists like Matisse and Picasso with cultural disintegration. Considered “degenerate art,” many Matisse artworks would be removed from galleries and museums and hidden in storage rooms—or worse, stolen by the Nazis.

Matisse at War is a vivid portrayal of the advancement of fascism and war into French life and culture during World War II through the lens of one of the country’s most celebrated post-impressionists and his family.

CRAIG FERGUSON – PANTS ON FIRE

CRAIG FERGUSON – PANTS ON FIRE

Craig Ferguson is a multiple Grammy nominated, Peabody and Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, producer, director and comedian with a diverse career that encompasses film, television and the stage. He is a New York Times bestselling author and has recorded numerous standup specials for Netflix, Epix, Comedy Central and Amazon

The wildly popular Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson ran on CBS for ten years and remains a cult favorite on YouTube racking up millions of views every year on fan posted bootleg clips.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson got his start in the entertainment industry as a drummer for some of the worst punk bands in the U.K. Following his musical stint, he began bartending in a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Sir Michael Boyd, the artistic director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow, who persuaded Ferguson to try acting. After several low paying acting gigs, Ferguson discovered he had a knack for comedy and was soon the star of his own BBC television show, “The Ferguson Theory.” After several stints on the UK comedy circuit, Ferguson brought his act to America in 1995 to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the short-lived ABC comedy, “Maybe This Time.” After the show ended, ABC decided to add the talented Scotsman to “The Drew Carey Show,” playing Drew Carey’s boss, ‘Nigel Wick,’ from 1996-2003.

In 2016, Ferguson debuted his original History Channel show, “Join or Die,” which featured him and his celebrity friends debating provocative topics with history experts. He also hosted Celebrity Name Game in syndication where he won the Emmy for best host two years in a row and The Hustler for ABC/Disney.

Ferguson has written the feature films “The Big Tease” and “Saving Grace”. In 2003, he made his directorial debut with “I’ll Be There,” which he also wrote and starred in. “I’ll Be There” went on to receive the Audience Award for Best Film at the Aspen, Dallas, and Valencia film festivals. Craig was also named “best new director” at the Napa Valley Film Festival. Ferguson’s other film credits include, “Niagra Motel,” “Lenny the Wonder Dog,” “Prendimi l’anima,” “Life Without Dick,” “Chain of Fools” and “Born Romantic.” In 2011, Ferguson portrayed ‘Owl’ in the Disney classic “Winnie the Pooh,” and in 2012 he portrayed ‘Lord Macintosh’ in Disney’s Oscar winning animated feature “Brave.”  He also voices Gobber in the hugely successful How To Train Your Dragon movies.

Ferguson has achieved notable success on the North American comedy circuit and has performed to sold-out theaters all across the country, including Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. He has five widely acclaimed stand-up comedy specials: “A Wee Bit O’ Revolution” which premiere in 2009 on Comedy Central; “Does This Need to Be Said” in 2011 on EPIX and Comedy Central; “I’m Here to Help” in 2013 on Netflix, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album; “Just Being Honest” in 2015 on EPIX, which earned him a second Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album; and “Tickle Fight” in 2017 on Netflix and the six part stand up/docu-series “Hobo Fabulous” on Amazon in 2020.

In 2006, Ferguson debuted his first novel entitled Between the Bridge and the River, which made it onto the bestseller list.  In 2008, Ferguson succeeded in becoming a US Citizen. His first gig as a new American was hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner in the company of President George W Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Critics raved of his witty and comical deliverance speech to the 3,000 attendees who included political journalists, celebrities, and Washington’s power players. In 2009, Harper Collins published Ferguson’s memoir American on Purpose – a book about why and how late night funnyman Craig Ferguson became an American. The book was listed on the New York Times bestseller list. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word.

His most recent book Riding the Elephant– a series of linked biographical stories- is available from Penguin books.

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will present What the Constitution Means to Me starting January 31, 2025. The play, by Heidi Schreck, is directed by Nancy Limbacher Meyer and stars Ann Alford, Timothy Huber, and Zoe Guaman. Performances will take place Friday and Saturday evenings from January 31 through February 15, 2025 at 8pm, with Sunday matinees February 2 & 9, 2025 at 2pm.

What the Constitution Means to Me is a memoir play by actor-playwright Heidi Schreck, who, as a teenager, earned money for college by giving speeches and engaging in debates about the U.S. Constitution in American Legion halls across the country. Over the course of the play, Schreck addresses themes such as women’s rights, immigration, domestic abuse, and the history of the United States. Schreck varies the time period in which the play takes place, performing some scenes as her modern self and others as her fifteen-year-old self participating in Constitutional debate contests.

Paul Reiser
Nov

Paul Reiser

Comedian, actor, television writer, author and musician Paul Reiser is one of Hollywood’s most prolific creatives.

On the heels of The Problem with People, an independent comedy shot entirely in Ireland which he wrote, produced, and starred in alongside Colm Meaney and Jane Levy, Reiser has released projects across a multitude of media formats.

There was Aliens: What If…? in which Carter Burke, Reiser’s iconic character from Aliens re-emerged in a concept comic book from Marvel comics.

Reiser co-wrote The New York Times Best-Seller What a Fool Believes, the candid, freewheeling memoir of his friend and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Michael McDonald from HarperCollins/DeyStreet.

In films, Paul reprised his role from BH Cop 1 and 2 in Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F and appeared in Magnolia Pictures’ comedy The Gutter, directed by Isaiah and Yassir Lester, premiering at SXSW.

He has been busy in TV as well. Appraising his role in Hulu’s critically-acclaimed comedy series Reboot from Modern Family creator Steve Levitan, Awards Daily wrote “Reiser truly excels, giving one of his very best performances…Here, he reminds us just how very funny and experienced he is in the world of television comedy.”

He also took his first step into bloody, superhero glory in Season 3 of Amazon Prime’s Emmy-nominated The Boys playing “The Legend,” and returns in the upcoming final season of the show.

And of course the return to his comedy roots with last year’s release of “Life, Death and Rice Pudding,” his first standup special in over 30 years.

Reiser is widely celebrated for his roles in two hit shows for Netflix: Stranger Things—the company’s biggest series of all time— and Chuck Lorre’s The Kominsky Method, for which he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Mad About You, the long-running Emmy, Peabody, and Golden Globe-winning comedy that     Reiser created and starred in with Helen Hunt returned as a limited series on Spectrum Originals.

Throughout his prolific career, Reiser has worked with both independent and mainstream filmmakers. Having earned acclaim for his supporting role in the Academy Award-winning film Whiplash, Reiser was also seen in frequent collaborator Jeff Baena’s The Little Hours and Horse Girl, which premiered at Sundance 2020, the fourth film the pair has worked on together. The veteran actor has garnered praise for notable performances in films such as Diner, Bye Bye Love, One Night At McCool’s, and The Thing About My Folks, which Reiser wrote for his co-star Peter Falk.

Reiser is a fixture behind the camera as well. He co-created and produced the seven-episode series There’s Johnny, a fictional story set behind-the-scenes of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show circa 1972, co-produced with director David Gordon Green.   The show premiered to critical praise, with Decider saying There’s Johnny! is “a television experience unlike any I’ve seen on TV in recent years” and “unfolds like a dream, a memory fondly recalled.”

As an author, Reiser’s first book, Couplehood, sold over two million copies and reached the number one spot on The New York Times bestsellers list. His subsequent books, Babyhood and Familyhood, were best sellers as well.

Voted by Comedy Central as one of the Top 100 Comedians of All Time, Reiser regularly performs sold-out standups at venues nationwide.

A SUNY Binghamton graduate of its prestigious music program, Reiser co-wrote the theme song for Mad About You, “The Final Frontier,” with Grammy-winning producer Don Was, and released an album of original songs with British singer-songwriter Julia Fordham called Unusual Suspects. Over the course of his career, Reiser has received multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, American Comedy Awards, and Screen Actors Guild nominations.

Reiser and his family reside in Los Angeles.

Mon Rovîa reflects journeys of humanity through his Afro Appalachian music as a singer and songwriter, and from his own experiences moving from the Liberia during the country’s civil war to the United States. (75-minute performance, no intermission)

“Tolerance is much more than passively accepting the other. It brings obligations to act, and must be taught, nurtured and defended.  Tolerance requires investment by States in people, and in the fulfillment of their full potential through education, inclusion and opportunities. This means building societies founded on respect for human rights, where fear, distrust and marginalization are supplanted by pluralism, participation and respect for differences.”

Music at Grace Farms | Broadway Inspirational Voices

Broadway Inspirational Voices returns to Grace Farms with a site-responsive program that connects us with the presence of the human voice to inspire the audience toward joy. The one-hour program features a holiday repertoire developed for Grace Farms by Connecticut native Allen René Louis, Broadway Inspirational Voices Artistic Director and GRAMMY®-nominated Creative Director and Producer.

(60 minute performance, no intermission)

About Broadway Inspirational Voices

Broadway Inspirational Voices is a diverse choir and service organization powered by Broadway artists using music to inspire hope and change lives.

In 1994 more than 32,000 people died from AIDS or AIDS-related complications in the U.S. Many of those deaths came from within the Broadway community. As Broadway grappled with the loss of an entire generation of artists, Tony and Grammy-nominated Michael McElroy (founder of the Broadway Inspirational Voices) saw in the community a profound need for hope, unity, and inspiration. He envisioned an organization where professional artists would come together and volunteer their gift to provide comfort, joy, and the promise of a better day–and as a result, The Broadway Gospel Choir was born. This magical synergy of authentic Gospel soul and Broadway bravura was re-imagined as the Broadway Inspirational Voices in 1999 and they have been the theatre community’s center of support and celebration ever since. In 2019, The Tony Awards Administration Committee presented the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to four outstanding contributors to the Broadway industry, and Broadway Inspirational Voices was a recipient. The Tony Honor was a resounding endorsement of Broadway Inspirational Voices’s enduring work and impact and in celebration of 25 years of service. In 2020, McElroy hand picked composer/singer Allen René Louis to become the new Artistic Director for Broadway Inspirational Voices. Broadway Inspirational Voices’s diverse membership has represented over 140 Broadway shows since its inception.

MARTHA DIAMOND: DEEP TIME

MARTHA DIAMOND: DEEP TIME

Deep Time, a traveling survey of five decades of work by Martha Diamond, marking the artist’s first solo museum presentation in thirty-six years. Martha Diamond: Deep Time will be on view at The Aldrich from November 17, 2024 to May 18, 2025, and will be accompanied by the artist’s first major monograph.

Diamond’s ties to The Aldrich extend back to 1972 when Larry Aldrich, the Museum’s founder, visited the artist’s Bowery studio and purchased the seven-by-six-foot acrylic on canvas painting, Untitled, 1972, marking her first museum acquisition. This painting was included in Diamond’s debut exhibition, Contemporary Reflections 1972-73, an annual series at the Museum that spotlighted emerging artists with no gallery representation. Aldrich bought another painting from Diamond a year later, Untitled, 1973. It would be included in three more exhibitions throughout the 1970s and 1980s at The Aldrich. Now in the Museum’s 60th anniversary year, Untitled, 1973 will make its return as the earliest work in Deep Time.
