Musicians United for ALS: The Blues and More

The Original Blues Brothers Band-  An American blues and soul revue band founded in 1978 by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, who met and began collaborating as original cast members of Saturday Night Live. 

Average White Band- Known as AWB, is a Grammy nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their #1 hit instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces”. 

Shemekia Copeland - American Blues vocalist who has received 3 Grammy nominations and has won 8 Blues Music Awards. 

Tom Chapin- Grammy Award winner and Peabody Award winner, for children’s recordings. 

Paul Shaffer- Keyboard player and Musical Director of the David Letterman Show. 

Carla Thomas- R&B vocal legend and Queen of Memphis Soul. 

Vaneese Thomas- Singer/songwriter and 8 time Blues Music Award Nominee

The Uptown Horns- The Uptown Horns work is legendary — having performed, toured, and recorded with some of the most highly regarded rock ‘n’ roll, pop, and R&B artists in music industry history.

ALS United Greater New York is among the largest ALS organizations in the United States, serving New York City, Long Island, Lower and Mid-Hudson Valley, and Northern and Central New Jersey. They lead the way in research, care services, community education, and public policy, giving help and hope to those facing the disease. For more than 30 years, ALS United Greater New York’s work has been shaped by local families, caregivers, clinicians, advocates, volunteers, and supporters who believe no one should face ALS alone.
