Film + Q&A with Robert Harris and Janet Maslin: Beau Geste (1926)

  • 633 Old Post Road Bedford, NY, 10506 United States (map)

Presented by film restorer Robert Harris and former NY Times film critic Janet Maslin. Beau Geste, directed by Herbert Brenon, was Paramount’s most important release of 1926, and was the Best Picture winner at the Photoplay Awards – a year previous to the arrival of The Academy. The film starred matinee idol Ronald Colman and some of the top actors of the day – Neil Hamilton, Ralph Forbes, Alice Joyce, Mary Brian, Norman Trevor, Noah Beery, Victor McLaglen, and a young William Powell. This restoration premiered in April at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood as part of the TCM Festival, and will screen this summer at The Museum of Modern Art. There will be a 10-minute intermission. The presentation is a fundraiser for Bedford Playhouse.
