Antiques, Vintage &Thrifting
There is a particular satisfaction that comes from finding something unique that adds a real charm or flavor to a collected home. Fortunately, our area is rich with remarkable resources for collectors, decorators, and anyone who appreciates the thrill of the hunt.
A guide to vintage, antique, and thrift
Anthony Cutugno & Benjamin Mauldin
What began as a love affair with the French countryside has evolved into a way of life. At their historic Waccabuc home, Anthony Cutugno and Benjamin Mauldin have created their own slice of Provence, cultivating orchards, gardens, and a lifestyle centered around entertaining, cooking, and the simple pleasures of country living.
ELISA BULGRIN: ON THE LAND
Inspired by the farms of her Australian upbringing, Elisa Bulgrin set out to create a place where her own children could connect to the land. Along the way, she discovered a creative calling of her own, transforming a New Canaan property into Longfield Farm and building a life deeply rooted in beauty, community, and the land itself.
Gregory Goodwin & The Gentlemen’s Farmstead
Animals were Gregory Goodwin's refuge long before Gentlemen's Farmstead existed. What started as a passion for chickens, gardens, and country living has evolved into a Katonah farmstead filled with goats, sheep, gatherings, and a growing community of like-minded enthusiasts.
A Darien Waterfront Masterpiece
Perched atop the rocky shores of Darien's Contentment Island, this remarkable waterfront home is as much about the view as the architecture itself. Thoughtfully designed to dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, it offers a masterclass in modern coastal living.
Elmdon: A Waccabuc Gem
Built in 1780 as the first homestead of the Mead family, Elmdon is a pillar of Waccabuc charm. Set on open land and thoughtfully restored to retain its original millwork, fireplaces, and character, the estate offers a refined take on historic country living.
Homefront Farmers
A personalized organic gardening service that designs, plants, and maintains edible and ornamental gardens, Homefront Farmers helps families enjoy fresh harvests, seasonal flowers, and hands-on learning—without the backbreaking work.
Pound Ridge Masterpiece
Lisa Kroll is exceptionally bright, has become an expert at everything she’s ever done, and is, to put it nicely, extremely peripatetic. It’s almost as if, as soon as she achieves excellence in one endeavor, she becomes immediately focused on the next.
Sunraven
“The paddock was empty when I started to operate the property, together with several colleagues, as a healing center, back in 2005,” renowned doctor of Integrative Medicine, Michael Finkelstein recounts. “We built out the farm and rescued two horses, and built a large community garden - welcoming lots of people who were nourished by the process and the produce. It wasn’t until 2010, when Robin and I moved in, that we made the changes to make it a comfortable home.”
The Daytons
They live in Waccabuc in a Modern Cotswold Cottage they call BUCLAND. Renea recently sold HAYFIELDS Cafe, which she developed into the go-to neighborhood stop for a bite, and the host of an impressive once-a-month classic car gathering. Duncan is a real estate developer, a retired but renowned race car driver, a respected exotic car collector, and a stalwart of the community. They’re always smiling, have lots of friends, and might just be the ‘funnest’ couple around.
The Reimagining of a Landmark
There’s a house in Pound Ridge that for years was known as that house. But by the time John Roa and Candice Milano arrived at this once-beloved residence, it was barely standing. Sagging into the earth with no foundation to speak of, it had become more ruin than retreat. Most prospective buyers didn’t make it past the front door…
Martha Stewart’s Master Farrier
Martha calls on the Master Farrier, Michael Wildenstein, ‘the Hoof Doctor’, to come for a ‘barn call’.
The Steinhardts
MICHAEL STEINHARDT is a renowned Wall Street pioneer, has been a shaper of the American political landscape. He’s also passionate about his residence in Mt. Kisco, called Iroki - Japanese for ‘garden of surprises’ - which is complete with a zoo, one of the largest displays of tree varieties in the U.S., and years of collected follies.
Bespoke Builder
Jason Drake doesn’t do ordinary. Just bespoke. He builds dreams. Whether it’s taking a new-build residence from start to move-in, or doing an interior renovation, Jason’s work is, quite simply, superior. And when it comes to executing on a client’s vision, he’s known for fulfilling fantasies.
Bedford Royalty
Paul Bluhdorn and Anni de Saint Phalle are something of a throwback to the European nobility of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Popular amongst the Martha Stewart set, but relatively unknown - until now - by most others, they live in a residence ‘fit for a king’, and queen, on one of Bedford’s finest estates, called Blue Meadows.
To The Nines in New Canaan
Jordan and Andrew Terner are delightful. They’re entertaining and enjoyable, family-focused, and fun. They moved into their fabulous farmhouse, across the street from the Glass House, in 2017. And their daughter, Cybil, was born in 2023. …They are an ‘it’ couple in New Canaan these days!
An Exquisite Estate
This Bedford Country Estate, completed in 2007, has the timeless feeling of a cottage in the Cotswolds and the stately presence of a made-for-today American mansion.
Luxe at the Lake
Architect and Interior Designer Carol Kurth was honored when decades-long clients reached-out to say they wanted to design a guest house on their serene lakefront property in Bedford - with the primary purpose of having a fun and functional place for their children and grandchildren to come and stay. “I’ve known this family for many years and have worked with them on multiple projects of theirs,” Carol shares. “I actually had originally advised them on acquiring this very private, lush, wooded, lakeside property, when they were relocating to Bedford in 2017.”
The Mather Homestead
Of the 65 nationally registered historic landmarks in Connecticut, only one resides in Darien—a 1778 colonial home, now known as the Mather Homestead. One of the finest examples of 18th-century architecture in Darien, and home to six generations of the Mather family, with each generation enriching the home’s tapestry of stories, Executive Director Heather Raker describes the Mather Homestead as a “treasure that captures the unique history of Darien.”
