Defying all odds, Nicole (24), Ashley (23), and Chloe (20), won the 2025 NCAA National Championship in Women’s Lacrosse playing together for the University of North Carolina ‘Tar Heels’...and Chloe was named the National Championship Game MVP, Team MVP, and won the Tewaaraton Award - the lacrosse equivalent of the Heisman Trophy!

Lisa Kroll is exceptionally bright, has become an expert at everything she’s ever done, and is, to put it nicely, extremely peripatetic. It’s almost as if, as soon as she achieves excellence in one endeavor, she becomes immediately focused on the next.
They live in Waccabuc in a Modern Cotswold Cottage they call BUCLAND. Renea recently sold HAYFIELDS Cafe, which she developed into the go-to neighborhood stop for a bite, and the host of an impressive once-a-month classic car gathering. Duncan is a real estate developer, a retired but renowned race car driver, a respected exotic car collector, and a stalwart of the community. They’re always smiling, have lots of friends, and might just be the ‘funnest’ couple around.
MICHAEL STEINHARDT is a renowned Wall Street pioneer, has been a shaper of the American political landscape. He’s also passionate about his residence in Mt. Kisco, called Iroki - Japanese for ‘garden of surprises’ - which is complete with a zoo, one of the largest displays of tree varieties in the U.S., and years of collected follies.
A year after losing her leg in a shark attack, Ali Truwit won two Paralympic silver medals in Paris and launched a foundation supporting girls in need of prosthetics, water safety, and the Paralympic movement. She’s been featured on national TV, at global events—and now in the swimsuit issue Sports Illustrated too!
David Pogue is the kind of famous where just about everyone recognizes him as a somebody, while it might take a minute to realize that he’s the seven- time Emmy winning correspondent on CBS Sunday Morning who — in 35 stories each year — explains anything and everything that’s complicated.
Marissa Winokur is a star of stage and screen, most famous for having played Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray, and Judah Miller is a comedy writer who most recently wrote and was the showrunner for the television series called Bupkis. Together, Marissa and Judah are amongst the elite of ‘Hollywood’ power couples… and in 2021, they bought a house in Bedford!
Bedford & New Canaan Magazine's fifth annual 18 Under 18 section is always the highlight of our September/October Education Issue… and every year we are more and more impressed with the achievements of the 18 selected students - and with the quality of the hundreds of nominees entered. We have an incredibly difficult time narrowing down the list because of the intriguing paths that so many different students have selected. From Singers and Dancers to a Mountain Climber, Engineers and Activists, a Filmmaker, and even a Speed Cuber... we are particularly excited by this class!

Bedford-native, Jon Ruti, and his wife, Katie, bring Rivay home—an elevated, small-batch men’s clothing brand blending rugged sophistication with timeless style—now celebrating its flagship store’s first anniversary.
Warren Haynes is most famous for being a member of the Allman Brothers, playing with The Dead, leading his band Gov’t Mule, and a whole lot of other collaborative and solo work…but around the B&NC MAG area, Warren and his wife, Stefani, and their son Hudson, are just…proud B&NC locals!
Paul Bluhdorn and Anni de Saint Phalle are something of a throwback to the European nobility of the 18th and 19th Centuries. Popular amongst the Martha Stewart set, but relatively unknown - until now - by most others, they live in a residence ‘fit for a king’, and queen, on one of Bedford’s finest estates, called Blue Meadows.
Jordan and Andrew Terner are delightful. They’re entertaining and enjoyable, family-focused, and fun. They moved into their fabulous farmhouse, across the street from the Glass House, in 2017. And their daughter, Cybil, was born in 2023. …They are an ‘it’ couple in New Canaan these days!
Natasha Bedingfield is the chart-topping singer/songwriter best known for catchy tunes like Love Like This, Strip Me, Freckles, These Words, Wild Horses, Neon Lights, and of course her massive hit singles Unwritten and Pocketful of Sunshine. She’s also become well known as an advocate for LGBTQ rights and the environment.
Of course, being only 33, just about everything about Graham Glauber screams youthful enthusiasm like a fire engine’s siren. He’s the ‘Doogie Howser M.D.’ of the new Bedford Fire House. And he’s a hometown hero, who’s a real life advertisement for the virtue of being a volunteer.
Emily is an award-winning photojournalist and Murray is a leading conservationist in the United States. Together they are a Bedford Power Couple.
Chevy is a comedic giant, best known for his performances as a cast member in the first season of Saturday Night Live in 1975-1976 - including his legendary roles as the original anchor on the Weekend Update segment and his portrayal of a bumbling and stumbling President Ford - and then for his leading roles in Foul Play, Caddyshack, Fletch, Spies Like Us, Three Amigos, and as Clark W. Griswold in four National Lampoon Vacation movies.
…the young couple reinventing the 80-year-old Bedford Nursery. Meet Max and Nicole Apton, and their one-year-old daughter, Romy. Together, they’re the new owners of the Bedford Nursery, located at 235 Greenwich Road in Bedford, re-opening the community staple under the new name, Bedford Farms.
Esmeralda Santiago is the matrilineal voice of the Puerto Rican experience, who most recently authored the novel Las Madres, published by Alfred A. Knopf…and she’s dyed in the wool Katonah!
